About Pick 3
Pick 3 is a daily numbers game where players choose three numbers between 0 and 9. There are several ways to play Pick 3, each with different odds and prize payouts.
How to Play:
- Select your Numbers: Choose three digits, each from 0 to 9. You can choose the same digit more than once.
- Choose your Play Type:
- Straight: Matches all three digits in the exact order they are drawn.
- Box: Matches all three digits in any order. There are two types of Box plays: 3-Way Box (for numbers with a pair, like 112) and 6-Way Box (for numbers with all different digits, like 123).
- Straight/Box: A combination of Straight and Box plays. If your numbers match in the exact order, you win the Straight prize. If they match in any order, you win the Box prize.
- Front Pair: Match the first two numbers in exact order.
- Back Pair: Match the last two numbers in exact order.
- Combo: Covers all possible combinations of your chosen numbers in the Straight play, without you having to purchase separate tickets for each combination. The cost of a $1 play is divided equally across the combinations. Example: 123 Combo is equal to $1/6 on 123. The prize amount displayed for Combo wagers is for the $1 wager amount.
- Choose your Wager Amount: You can wager $0.50 or $1.
- Mark the Playslip: Fill out a Pick 3 playslip and give it to the retailer, or tell the retailer your number choices and play type.
- Receive your Ticket: Check your ticket to ensure it contains the correct numbers, date, and draw time.

Pick 3 drawings are held twice daily, Midday and Evening. Check the official NC Lottery website for drawing times.
Winning:
To win, your numbers must match the numbers drawn in the corresponding drawing, according to the play type you chose. Payout amounts vary depending on the play type and wager amount.
