About Pick 3
Virginia Pick 3 Lottery
Pick 3 is a daily numbers game offered by the Virginia Lottery. Players choose three numbers from 0 to 9. Drawings are held twice daily, once at approximately 1:59 PM ET (Midday) and once at approximately 11:00 PM ET (Evening).
How to Play
- Select three numbers, each between 0 and 9. You can either choose your own numbers or have the terminal randomly generate them for you using Quick Pick.
- Choose your play type:
- Straight: Match all three numbers in the exact order they are drawn.
- Box (3-Way): Match the three numbers in any order if two digits are the same (e.g., 121).
- Box (6-Way): Match the three numbers in any order if all digits are different (e.g., 123).
- Straight/Box: Combines a straight and box play. If your numbers are drawn in the exact order, you win the straight prize. If they are drawn in any order, you win the box prize. The prize amount and odds vary based on the number of ways the numbers can be arranged.
- Front Pair: Match the first two numbers in exact order.
- Back Pair: Match the last two numbers in exact order.
- Split Pair: Match the first and last number in exact order.
- 1-Off: One of the number is within 1 +/-
- Choose your wager amount. Common wagers are $0.50 or $1.
- Select whether you want to play the Midday or Evening drawing, or both.
- Purchase your ticket.

The odds of winning vary depending on the play type. The odds of winning the straight prize are 1 in 1,000. The odds of winning the box prize depend on whether the numbers have 3-ways or 6-ways arrangements. For the pair play type, the odds are 1 in 100. The odds of 1-Off playtype are 1 in 167.
